This ivy honey is pure raw Irish honeycomb from our own honeybees. Ivy honey is quite unique and made by bees from the nectar of autumn-flowering ivy. This honeycomb also have some heather honey in it.
Our ivy honey is best eaten as it is, on toast or homemade bread, added to hot porridge and allowed to melt slightly, or just straight from the comb. Raw ivy honey is also a great tonic for sore and itchy throats.
Our Irish Ivy honeycomb is quite unique and made by our own honeybees from the nectar of autumn flowering ivy (hedera helix). At a time of the year when little else is flowering in hedgerows and gardens, ivy provides valuable pollen and nectar for honeybees and other bees. Most years, our bees will make a lot of ivy honey. Hence, in those years, we can harvest some of this very distinctly strong and somewhat spicy honey. Ivy honey is also great for soothing sore and itchy throats.
