Propolis is nature’s antiseptic marvel. It is a resinous mixture collected from secretions of plant buds from trees by honeybees. Honeybees coat the inside of their hives with propolis and use it as a part of their colony’s defence against virus and disease. Propolis is renowned for its potent anti-microbial and anti-viral properties and it has been used for thousands of years to support immune health in humans and as a natural antioxidant. Ingesting propolis daily in small doses is said to help strengthen the immune system against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, including the flu. Propolis is not readily available in pure form; a solution of propolis and alcohol is often preferred for ease of ingestion.
