I had the pleasure of welcoming Journalist Ellie O’Byrne for a honey tasting session during the summer. Ellie produces a wonderful podcast series for her Green Bites Podcast about Irish Food. This episode deals with bees and honey.

I love talking about bees and Ellie loves honey, so it was bound to be a great meeting right from the start! Come along and listen to us talk about the different honeys our bees produce here in the South of Ireland. From soft set spring honey to summer honey and honeycomb. And from rapeseed honey to heather honey and my very own favourite: ivy honey. And of course, lots and lots of talk about bees and a good deal of laughing!

    In lieu of World Bee Day on 20 May, my son Julius, 6, and I were lucky to celebrate our love of bees in our local school, Little Island NS today when we paid a very special visit. We brought along our observation hive to provide a firsthand look at the inner workings of a beehive, spreading awareness about the crucial role of bees in pollination and the impact they have on our food supply.
