Hot Honey Recipe with Fresh Chillies

It’s a great cupboard staple, and can easily be made using left over granulated or crystallized honey from the back of the kitchen press! Hot Honey Recipe with fresh Chillies and garlic

Here’s a simple recipe for making hot honey with fresh chillies

INGREDIENTS

1 cup Wildflower honey

1-3 fresh chili peppers, sliced in half lengthwise

Pinch of salt

Optional

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lime juice

1-2 crushed garlic cloves

HOW TO MAKE HOT HONEY

  1. In a small saucepan, combine honey, chili peppers, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add vinegar, lime juice or garlic, if using.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until the honey is fully melted.
  4. Keep temperature to just below boiling 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the flavors blend together.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool for 10 minutes.
  6. Remove the chili peppers, all the seeds and garlic from the honey. Use them in cooking or discard them.
  7. Transfer the hot honey to a jar or a bottle and let it cool completely before using or storing.
  8. Store in room temperature and use within a couple of months.

HELPFUL TIPS

Use up leftover bits of granulated honey for this recipe. As the honey is heated, the granules will melt and blend beautifully with the chillies.

Wildflower honey work best for this recipe.
